I use the bundled Norton on my computers.

On our servers we use f-prot, along with a number of other systems which can spot attacks based on signatures.

Personally, Norton....does its job pretty well if not too well..

Heard comments from other users about it being a memory hog...what are your thoughts?

I have been using AVG ever since my subscription ended for Norton..
AVG works good so far, and its free.

I also use a tool called PrevX (www.prevx.com) , which is an excellent piece of software which prevents anything to install on your computer without your knowledge which includes worms, viruses, spyware, adware etc..

Default Zonealarm AV

Hi Guys,

Been looking for some AV to replace Norton AV 2003 which has just expired - happy to pay for quality products

Read all the reviews on Download and ZDnet - all seem to have critical failings.

Decided to install Zonealarm AV - seemed to install and run smoothly.

Of courses I wouldnt know if a virus/trojan/etc managed to slip past and install itself

Anyone had any grief or glowing successes with it ?

Jeremy

I've just installed Yahoo anti-spyware (trial version for Firefox) today. It's spotted 8 problems which my Spybot couldn't detect, 3 are dangerous, including Trojan, another one which I can't remember but my husband called it thief, and adwares. No wonder my browser couldn't reach every site I wanted to log on to on the first try, because the spy was tracking down where I go.

However, when I wanted to download the Yahoo updates there was an error message meaning error in confirmation and the installation was aborted. Then I wanted to update my spybot and I noted errors in some entries. The two softwares clash. What can I do? I can't go without either. One is not enough. If I add AVG or Panda then all three/four of them will have a party, or play mahjong.

Btw, does anyone know anything about Ms DirectInput? KIA has explained it to me, but how can I get rid of it? If Panda requires me to get rid of others there is a threat of one is not enough. My hubby is afraid of the really powerful ones.

I wouldd remove the Yahoo software for sure and rely on spybot for the antispyware.
