I frequently see this error message in my event viewer on XP.

Any ideas on what one could do to bypass the connection limits?

Time: 9:10:49 PM
User: N/A
Computer: LAPTOP

Default

Its to stop people trying to use XP Home, XP pro, etc, as servers and buy 2003 servers editions instead. It defaults to 5 concurrent connections waiting open state. There is a tool floating about to remove the limit on XP but nothing on Vista.
