Default Can not start Apache - only one usage of each socket address

Hi,

I have just install Apache (2.2.8) and it installs ok but when I try to start it I get the following error.

only one usage of each socket address ( protocol / network address / port). is normally permitted. :mak-socket: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening socket available, shutting down.

Can someone please help.

With many thanks in advance.

Peter, this usually means that there is another process that is using port 80.

I'd recommend you do a netstat -alp and see what is bound to port 80.

Once you find the process, kill it and try to start apache again.
